I. About Us

The Educational Science Research Institute of Hunan University (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) originates from the Research Laboratory of Higher Education, which was founded in 1981. And in 2006, the Educational Science Research Institute was formally established. Now, the Institute has a second-level discipline master’s degree program ofeducational economy and management”, a first-level discipline master’s degree program of “education science”, a professional master’s degree program of “education”, and a doctorate degree program of “educational management”.

The Institute has integrated the functions of talent cultivation, scientific research, consultation service, and educational theory journal publication, and it has set up a series of research centers at provincial level, such as the Hunan Research Center for Education Evaluation, and Hunan Research Center for Children Organization and Ideology Education. It is also among the first batch of higher educational research bases in Hunan Province. Currently, the Institute also has second-level disciplines of educational principle, curriculum and teaching methodology, higher education, and educational economy and management.

II. Positions Available in 2018

The Institute is currently recruiting professors, associate professors, and assistant professors in the following disciplines: Education Science, Educational Economy and Management, Management, Economy, etc. The recruitment of high-level talent positions is a long-term plan without application deadline. The applicants are welcomed to apply for corresponding positions at any time.

III. Starting Time and Deadline for the Recruitment

The applicants are welcomed to apply all year around. The application evaluation will be conducted in batches according to specific circumstances.

IV. Requirements

1. The applicants should devote themselves to the cause of education, observe academic norms, set a good role model for others, have a good team spirit and a rigorous attitude of scholarship, and adhere to the relevant codes and regulations

2. Basic teaching and research requirements

(1) Teaching ability

Applicants for teacher positions should have the ability to take on the teaching of basic and specialized courses and to supervise post-graduate students.  

(2) Research ability

Ideal candidates should be able to think critically, and exhibit strong academic potential. Eligible applicants for senior positions should have advanced research achievements with academic influence, a broad academic vision to carry out projects that meet the national strategic needs and the frontiers of world scientific development, and the potential to become leading academic researchers in relevant fields.

Eligible applicants for middle-rank positions should have mastered the frontier of knowledge, and have good research achievements in relevant fields.

3. Other requirements

(1) Applicants should have a doctorate degree from a well-known university or research institute.

(2) Applicants for positions of professor should be no more than 45 years of age in principle; and applicants for positions of associate professor or under should be no more than 35 years of age in principle. The age limits do not apply for high-level talents, and can be slightly adjusted for applicants who have already made outstanding achievements or have other extraordinary qualities.

(3) Applicants should have a sufficiently good command of a foreign language to enable them to participate in international academic exchanges.

1. The recruitment is a long-term plan open to all candidates globally without application deadline. The applicants are welcomed to apply for corresponding positions at any time.

2. The application evaluation will be conducted in batches according to relevant work procedures of talent introduction.

Appendix 1: Talent Introduction Remuneration for Teaching and Research Series Positions of Hunan University

I. Competitive compensation will be offered for every position accordingly.

II. Other benefits

1. Research-starting fund: In the field of Humanities and Social Science, the research-starting fund for assistant professor is 150,000 yuan/person; for associate professor, 300,000 yuan/person; and for professor, 500,000 yuan/person. The use of research-starting fund can refer to the management of longitudinal research funding, and the fund will be allocated at an annual basis as listed in the research plan.

2. Relocation allowance (before tax): The relocation allowance for assistant professor is 150,000 yuan/person; for associate professor, 200,000 yuan/person; and for professor, 300,000 yuan/person.

3. The “Yuelu Scholar Program” has set up three types of positions—Leading Scholar Position, Distinguished Scholar Position, and Chenxing (Morning Star) Scholar Position. Aside from the compensation for every position accordingly, Yuelu Scholars are expected to have a special allowance. For Leading Scholar Positions, the allowance is 300,000 yuan/year; for Distinguished Scholar Position A, 200,000 yuan/year; for Distinguished Scholar Position B, 150,000 yuan/year; for Chenxing (Morning Star) Scholar Position A, 120,000 yuan/year; and for Chenxing (Morning Star) Scholar Position B, 60,000 yuan/year.
